The Power of Engagement

The Early Learning Resource Center (ELRC) Region 7 in partnership with STEP, Inc. held its 3rd Annual ELRC Conference: The Power of Engagement April 11-12 at the Holiday Inn in Williamsport. 

More than 100 staff of child care providers in Lycoming, Clinton, and Tioga counties were in attendance with the opportunity select their courses and earn up to 10 Pennsylvania Quality Assurance System (PQAS) professional development hours. 

A pre-conference session with Work Wisdom's Sarah Colantonio kicked off the professional development conference Friday afternoon, followed by Keynote speaker Marty Appelbaum of Appelbaum Training Institute. Keynote sessions included "Inspiring Lifelong Learners: The Role of Early Childhood Educators, Remembering Your Why" and "Even Superheroes Need Support! Taking Care of the Caregiver." In addition to the Keynotes, Marty and Maryln Appelbaum presented two breakout sessions, "Mornings Made Easy! Start the Day the Best Way" and "Five Must Know Skills Every Child Needs."

Additional presentations from the Early Childhood Education Training Academy included "Promoting the Wonder: Infants and Toddlers as Scientists" and "The Bully Project." 

Special guest speaker Nia Harris, PA Office of Child Development and Early Learning's Bureau of Operations and Monitoring Director, was also in attendance to introduce Saturday's Keynote.
